How to rotate a PDF and save it
This tool fixes sideways or upside-down pages and saves the new orientation into the PDF. It works in any modern browser on a computer or phone, it is free, and you do not need an account.
Each page appears as a thumbnail, so you can see which ones need turning before you save. The rotated PDF downloads automatically, and a download button also appears.
- Click "Choose a PDF" and select your file, or drag it onto the drop zone.
- Use the rotate-left or rotate-right button on any page thumbnail to turn that page.
- To turn every page at once, click "Rotate all left" or "Rotate all right."
- Click "Save rotated PDF" to download the corrected file.
How to rotate only one page in a PDF
Scanned documents often have a single page that came out sideways, such as a wide table or a landscape chart. To fix just that page, find its thumbnail and click its rotate button until it looks right. All the other pages stay as they are.
Most PDF viewers, including Mac Preview and web browsers, have a rotate button. In many of them, though, it only changes your current view, and the page goes back to its old orientation the next time the file is opened or when someone else views it. Some apps can save the change, but it is easy to miss that step.
This tool is easier when you want to rotate a PDF permanently. You see every page at once, turn only the ones that need it, and save a file that is fixed for good.
Rotation options explained
Per-page buttons turn one page 90 degrees left (counterclockwise) or right (clockwise). Click twice to turn a page upside down, which fixes pages that were scanned the wrong way up.
Rotate all left and Rotate all right turn every page in the document by 90 degrees. Use them when a whole file was scanned or exported sideways.
You can combine both. For example, rotate all pages right, then turn one page back with its own button. The thumbnails always show the result you will get when you save.
Privacy and limits
Your PDF is rotated in your browser on your own device and is never uploaded to PaperPorter. You can safely use it for signed agreements, ID scans and other personal documents.
PDFs up to 50 MB are supported. Rotation is saved in the file itself, so it opens the right way in every viewer and prints correctly. Page content is not re-rendered, so text stays sharp and selectable. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first. The tool turns pages in 90-degree steps; it cannot straighten a slightly tilted scan.
Your original file is not modified. The tool saves a new copy with the rotation applied, so you can always start again from the original if you change your mind.
Tips for rotating PDFs
Check every thumbnail before saving. Long scans often have one or two pages facing a different way. A quick look saves you from a second round.
Rotate before converting. If you plan to turn pages into images or crop them, fix orientation first so later steps line up correctly.
Re-open the file to confirm. After saving, open the downloaded PDF in your usual viewer. Because the rotation is stored in the file, the pages should face the right way there too.
Keep the original. The tool creates a new file, so your original PDF stays unchanged in case you need it.
Rotate before sharing or uploading. Online forms and portals often show pages exactly as they are stored. Fixing orientation first means reviewers see every page the right way without turning their screen.
