Connect PaperPorter to Claude

Connect Claude Code to PaperPorter's HTTP MCP server. Sign in once through OAuth to keep saved answers and generated PDFs private. No OpenAI API key is needed.

Claude Code MCP setup: add the server, authenticate through /mcp, then test a form — Visual guide with the verified Claude Code command.

1. Add the server in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user paperporter https://paperporter.com/mcp

The user scope makes PaperPorter available across your Claude Code projects. If you previously added the old workers.dev endpoint, run claude mcp remove paperporter -s user first, then add the new endpoint.

2. Authenticate

Start Claude Code with claude. Run /mcp, select paperporter, and choose its authentication action. Complete sign-in and approval in the browser, then return to Claude Code.

3. Test a ready form

Use PaperPorter to find the approved Danville reroof questionnaire. Show the official source and required questions. Ask me for the answers, save a draft, and validate it. Show all answers before generating a PDF and wait for my confirmation.

Check the connection

claude mcp get paperporter

The CLI should show the HTTP endpoint. Before login, an authentication-required status is expected. After login, use /mcp to inspect the available tools.

Using Claude's web or desktop app

If your plan exposes custom remote connectors, add https://paperporter.com/mcp in its connector settings and complete OAuth. This is separate from the Claude Code terminal command.

Current limits

Only the administrator adds PDFs. Users fill approved catalog forms. OAuth grants access to your own drafts and PDFs, not administrative access. The live OAuth and MCP generation workflow has been verified with a standard MCP client; complete the browser authentication in your own Claude Code session.
